(More customer reviews)I bought this as a cheap MP3 player for my daughter's birthday.I figured she'd lose it anyway.She was excited when she opened it, but two hours later, I'd seen enough.Turns on, then off repeatedly when connected to the computer through the USB connection, so computer can never fully sync with the device.Our other MP3 players work fine.
COBY "customer support" is horrendous.First, "Damien" tells me that I must charge the unit for 4 hours.I argue with him that this thing takes a AAA battery, what's to charge!He gets back to me, agrees that it is defective.Then tells me they want a $6 MONEY ORDER to process a return.Returning to Amazon.

(More customer reviews)Nowhere in the product description (or in the manual) does it mention that there are limited sites to download from.. in fact, there are no sites listed at all.The manual says to drag music from a music download site to the mp3player.Although this was easy to do, the player will not recognize any of the songs I downloaded.COBY customer service was unhelpful.Call and find out exactly which sites you can download from, or don't waste your money.

(More customer reviews)Coby MP-C883 MP3 Player w/1GB - The player loaded easily from a 2002 Dell with XP via Windows Media Player (as recommended by the manual).I pulled MP3 files from an external hard drive as well as the internal drive and filled the player without any problems.

This player can be hooked up directly to a USB port but includes a short USB extension cord which was convenient for use with a desk top with tough to get at ports. The audio is fine and the provided earbuds are ok, skip forward and backward work as expected.

(More customer reviews)I bought a few different kinds of little MP3 players after I killed my ipod nano. This is the best overall. I use it fishing on the Pacifc Ocean and for me an MP3 player needs to be able to stay out of my way as I bounce around and off of things. I clip this on the back of my baseball cap where it adjusts. It is thin enough to be comfortable and one charge usually gets me through a day of fishing. Having it on my head it needs to be light weight and it is. I also like that it is inexpensive because there is a good chance I will destroy it while I am fishing.

I am using the buds that came with it and they work fine for me. The ONLY thing I would like to see changed is for them to make the USB adapter a little longer so it doesn't fight with the headphone plug in. 1GB is perfect for me because I can just buy a few and have each one hold a playlist.

This order is my 2nd one, which was supposed to be Black but looks like it will be Silver *again* which isn't going to help me keep them apart... It turns out none of my early concerns about it were valid. The spring has held up to heavy use and abuse and I think I'd rather have more than bigger or with a heavier battery. I'll probably buy a few more for myself after Christmas and I'll be getting a few of them as gifts for people next year (I have to get them switched over to digital music first!) I don't normally gush over material objects, but these things are about perfect IMO.
