(More customer reviews)hi! i purchased this mp3 player with the hope that it would provide me with some relaxation during my daily swim. it did until i went 2-3 laps into my swim, at which point the ear phones allowed enoughwater in to drown out thesound. which requires stopping and readjusting them so you can hear again.i no longer plan on them for swimming laps but find them invalable while doing other water exercises.the player it self has very small controls and the direction manual could use some detail improvments as well. i would purchase the player again,but only because i found a great deal on amazon and really needed to add something to my workouts.

(More customer reviews)I bought the 512MB model of this product a few days ago, set it up, plugged it into my computer and it worked for less than one minute.I have sent several e-mails to Oregon Scientfic and their selling agent (ExploraTrac), they have not even bothered to answer them.Contacted them on their 800 number several times and was told I would be contacted, no response.This is not a cheap product (at least in terms of price), however, in terms of quality it is absolute and utter rubbish and the companies customer service is non-existent.I would strongly recommend that no one purchase this product.I would rate it at zero stars if possible, the only thing they did correctly was take my money and ship this piece of junk to me.

(More customer reviews)I decided to buy this because I wanted to have some music during my surf sessions this summer. First off, as other reviewers have mentioned, this player is not one of the easiest to use. The only advice would be to "play with the buttons" in order to get the hang of using it. Once you do, it's not too bad (Also found a link to a PDF file with more comprehensive English instructions online). Transferring music files is easy. While the sound quality is OK, bass is somewhat lacking even with the "bass" or "rock" EQ settings, though I tend to listen at lower volumes because I don't want to completely shut out outside sounds while sitting in the lineup waiting for waves. The waterproof headset seals pretty well - they never fell out once during the surf session and battery life is pretty good considering the player's size. The player itself seems to feel well-made, but that could be because the body is made of aluminum. Nice.
The biggest shortcomings for me were these two issues: 1) The FM tuner has poor reception on land, don't even bother trying it on the water. A big letdown as I listen to the radio about half the time. 2) The recommended depth limit of 1 meter (approx. 3.2(?) feet). Fine for swimming laps on the surface, but rather pointless if the product supposedly can be used for other water sports. Wiping out or "going over the falls" of a good sized wave can easily send you beyond that depth. That will restrict my use for smaller days (3 ft. "Hawaiian" scale max).
Overall, this product rates 3 stars because I don't think it could withstand my intended water sport use in the long run. If it was strictly for swimming laps (which I do occasionally), would have rated it higher.

(More customer reviews)I ordered this because I didn't want to risk ruining my iPod touch, even with a waterproof case. It's a simple device that comes with a USB cable, a mini disk (don't bother with it though), the MP3 player, a water proof case, water proof earbuds, and a lanyard. I don't know if this is the case with PCs, but if you are a Mac user using iTunes, the best way to transfer music is to create a separate file (mine is on my desktop) and drag the music from iTunes to the folder, then drag the folder to the MP3 player. It won't allow you to drag directly for iTunes for some reason.

I have not tried it in the pool yet, but I have tried it in the shower, and it sounds wonderful. The earbuds are a little uncomfortable with my small ears, but I figure it's a small price to pay. They are also sound blocking, and prevent water from getting in your ears, which is nice.

Over all, very impressed, especially considering how cheap it is. My only criticism is the bulk: It's about the size of a large egg. I'm not sure how I'm going to attach it to my swim suit yet... and it also would probably not be good for racers, as it is bulky.

(More customer reviews)This is a cool little player, I ordered mine mainly so that I wouldn't be driven insane by screaming kids and their parents while I did laps in the neighborhood pool this summer.

This player is really light weight, the two orange straps ties to the goggles and it barely feels like anything is there. The white waterproof earphones have really short cords so that they don't dangle around and snag on things. The headphones screw into the player body with a threaded design - this is a very nice design that ensures no water leaks through the connector.The other side of the player has a group of 5 buttons and an LED.They are kind of small and are a bit hard to use - but really, when you are swimming, you will just set everything up and not touch it anyway. It's not like you'll be changing tracks, changing volume and etc while lapping.I've used this player about a dozen times in the pool at the gym, so far so good - no leaks and the headphones stays put.

A really cool feature is that the volume fades in and out when you start and stop the player.

X-Pac also throws in a second pair of black normal headphones for out-of-water use.They are made from black anodized aluminum and are designed to look/feel like high end headphones - but really, I doubt pack-in headphones are anything special.They do sound excellent though, and brings out the full potential of the X-Pac player - music is clear, punchy, and bass-heavy songs do not sound muddy.

With the black headphones. this little player really shines as an excellent every-day player.It's small, light weight, easy to use, and holds a lot of songs with its 4GB of memory.Just load it up with songs and go.So even though I bought this primarily as a player for swimming, I am also using it when I am walking, commuting, and etc.

All in all a really good buy. I'm happy.

(More customer reviews)I purchased this item a week ago thinking that it would make me want to swim laps longer - and it did. The sound quality was great and I even overlooked the confusing interface because - hey - its allowing me to listen to my music while I swim laps.

It worked great for a week - or 4 days of swimming laps, and then I went to turn it on and I got "loading..." and thats as far as the screen would go. Now the screen is blue and orange and there's condensation inside the display. Now - I know what you're thinking "Hey - are you deep sea diving with this thing or swimming laps 50 ft. below the surface of your pool?" No. No I am not. I'm fairly close to the surface while I'm swimming and keep the player in its own zip compartment in my gym bag which is free from water.

So now I'm looking for another mp3 player while I try to get my money back on this piece of crap. I'm sure its great if you're going canoeing and not touching water much, but for lap swimming, it failed me.
