It worked fine for a week, then went into a mode where it circulated endlessly through its menus and couldn't be shut off. I made an attempt to update the firmware according to the player's instruction manual, but they were written in such poor English that I found it impossible to accomplish properly. I'm returning the device to Amazon.

If the player hadn't died, I'd probably still mark it down to only three stars due to the following deficiencies:

The English in the instructions is so poor that it's very difficult to understand what they're telling you.

The button legends in the firmware updater program, despite the fact it was installed (twice) in English, were incomprehensibly garbled numbers and letters.

There's nothing in the instructions to indicate what sort of micro SD memory the player requires. By searching on Amazon, I was able to determine that the maximum size useable is 2 Gb. This might be fine, but why isn't the information printed in the instructions?

There's no mention whatever in the instructions about eventual battery replacement. Do you throw the player away when the rechargeable battery eventually goes bad?

Latte's website seemed to carry no reference to the 8 Gb player.

All the above do not lend confidence that I can depend on this company to support their equipment.

Hence, I'm back to the drawing board, searching for a player made by a company that takes the trouble to provide comprehensible English instructions, and more complete data on their products.
